H.C. Atchison

H. C. ���Billy��� Atchison, 52, of Marion Junction, AL died August 31, 2008 at a Birmingham hospital. Services will be held at Church Street United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 4, 2008 with Rev. Fred Zeigler, Rev. Polk VanZandt, and Rev. Stephen Hooks officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Survivors include his wife, Janet Atchison; sons, H.C. ���Hank��� Atchison (Charlie) and Thomas Clay Atchison (Kaley); grandchildren, H.C. ���Cade��� Atchison, Sarah Kay Atchison, Lillian Belle Atchison, and Thomas Clay Atchison Jr.; father, H.C. Atchison (Mattie); brother, Knowles Atchison (Millie); sisters, Kay Warfield (Michael), Xan Key (Mark), and Velma White (Johnny); and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Atchison was preceded in death by his mother, Kay Youngblood Atchison. Active Pallbearers will be David Pearce, Les Smith, Dennis Palmer, George Hariston, George Evans, and Randy Mayfield. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sen. Hank Sanders, Tuesday Night Club, Selma Rotary Club, Leadership Selma, Centre for Commerce-Selma, Perry Co. Center for Economic Development, and the Men���s Sunday School Class Church St. United Methodist Church. The family would like to give a special thanks to Alabama Power Company, VRMC Surgical Center, Kirkland Clinic-Acton Road Comprehensive Cancer Center, Palliative and Comfort Care Unit of UAB Hospital. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Alabama Power Service Organization, 244 Dexter Ave., Montgomery, AL 36104.
