Helen Josephine "Jo" Rawlins Travis

Helen Josephine “Jo” Rawlins Travis of Daphne, Alabama and formerly of Selma passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at the age of 90.

She was born May 14, 1932 in Center Hill, Alabama to the late Henry Davis and the late Lavada Hill Davis.

Jo was a well-known multiple business owner in Selma for decades, she was a trail blazer and inspiration for women who wanted to go in business for themselves and be their own boss in a man's world

She is survived by her daughter, Patsy Gearhart; son, Ricky Rawlins; granddaughter, Cassie Hobby; 3 great-grandchildren, Makala Dennis, Addison Marie Jones, Aiden Mark Jones.  

She is preceded in death by her son, Donnie Rawlins and grandson, Mark Stone.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Shane D. Ogle officiating.

Interment will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Russell Garland, Robbie Red, Eddie Wayne Cooper, Sam Mott, Donna Wilson, Amy Vazquez, Candace Mott Stoudemire, Krista Mott Hilton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Busby, Tim Williams, Curtis Cook, Robbie Lee, and Allen Rollins. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
