Helon Louise Burton Seigler went to her Heavenly Home on January 4,
2012. She was born on August 1, 1921 in Fidel, Georgia. She was a
graduate of Georgia State College for Women and Emory University School
of Nursing. After graduation, she served in the Cadet Nursing Corps in
Washington, DC. Upon returning to Atlanta, she taught Medical and
Surgical nursing at Crawford Long Hospital until she married J. P. Seigler, a
Georgia Tech graduate, in 1950. After rearing their children, she returned to
her nursing career at Crawford Long Hospital until retirement. She was a
member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta where she served as a
Sunday school teacher. She moved to Selma in 2005 to live with her
daughter's family. She attended First Presbyterian Church in Selma.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. P. Seigler, Sr. and her parents,
Dr. and Mrs. Robert E. Burton. She is survived by her children: Anne
Williamson (Jack) of Selma, AL., Kathryn Mayorga (Fernando) of Norcross,
Ga., and J. P. Seigler, Jr. (Mary Lou); her grandchildren: Elizabeth (Will)
Pearce, Dale Williamson, Amanda Williamson, Kathryn Slattery, Rebekah
Slattery, and Joseph Slattery; and four great-grandchildren: Anne Frances
Pearce, Elizabeth McIntyre Pearce, Mary William Pearce and Andrew
Slattery. She is also survived by four special friends and caregivers: Ethel
Smith, Princess Anderson, Estell Thomas, and Josephine Stallworth.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., EST at historic Kingston Cemetery in Kingston,Georgia on January 6, 2012
