Henry Fisher LeVert, a dedicated, compassionate and cheerful man, passed away May 10, 2024 at the age of 86, surrounded by close family. He touched the lives of many with his kind heart and infectious sense of humor. Henry will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to his family, Christian faith, Christian service, friends and community.
He was born May 1, 1938 to the late Charles Henry and Rossie Ingram LeVert in Brookwood, Alabama and grew up surrounded by love of his mother and siblings. He carried this love with him through his life and passed it on to his daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His dedication to his loved ones was unparalleled, as he selflessly put their needs above his own.
His sense of humor was a beacon of light in any room he entered. His quick wit and playful spirit brought joy to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In his professional life, he was known for his hard work and integrity. He approached his work with dedication and passion. This was carried on from his tenure at Selma National Bank, First Alabama Bank and Regions into his ministry work that started after his retirement. He responded to the call to preach and pastored at Ephesus Baptist Church in Sprott for 14 years and then served at Carlowville Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Harris LeVert; brothers, Austin LeVert, William LeVert, Samuel LeVert and Johnny LeVert; sister, Addleen LeVert Powers.
He is survived by his daughters, Sharon (Paul) Lewellen of Arkansas and Traci (Larry) Foster of Selma; four grandchildren, Benjamin (Jenny) Argo of Birmingham, Hanna (Jeremy) Hooe of Arkansas, Charlie Argo of Nashville and Trey (Claire) Lewellen of Arkansas; five great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Allen (Judy) LeVert of Wetumpka; sister, Kathleen Jarvis of Fairfield and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma with Rev. Tom Stacey officiating. A private burial will follow. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Benjamin Argo, Charlie Argo, Trey Lewellen, Jeremy Hooe, David Bradford, KC Bradford, Dawson Bradford, Jeffrey Nickles and Bradford Nickles.
He will be laid to rest at New Live Oak Cemetery.
His legacy of love, laughter and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
