Mr. Henry Lewis Pitts, age 86, died at his residence in Sprott, Alabama, on Tuesday morning at 7:25 a.m., August 17, 2010, after a lengthy illness.
Henry was born on November 7, 1923, in Heiberger, Alabama. He grew up in Heiberger and was drafted into the Army in 1944. He returned from military service in 1946, moved to Sprott, Alabama and married his late wife of 64 years, Juliette Hughey Pitts. He worked as parts manager for over 50 years at Morgan���s Black Belt Tractor Company in Selma, AL alongside his wife until retiring in 2003.
Henry is preceded in death by his wife, Juliette Hughey Pitts; his parents, Giles and Ethel Pitts; brother, Sammy Pitts; sister, Mae Ruth Bamberg. Survivors include two daughters, Janet Pitts of Sprott and Linda Pitts of Bay Minette, Alabama; two sisters, Louise Barton of Centreville, Alabama and Faye Marchant of Brent, Al.
Services will be held Thursday August 19, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. at Ephesus Baptist Church, Sprott, AL with Reverend Henry Levert officiating and Lawrence Brownn-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
