Herbert Eugene Carter, Jr. passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at Park Place Nursing Home in Selma at the age of 71.
He was born in Selma, Alabama on March 5, 1952 to the late Herbert E. Carter, Sr. and Jeane Davidson Carter.
He was a millwright by trade for GE, a farmer, and avid wild game hunter. His love for hunting far exceeded the borders of Dallas County, Alabama, and the United States as he made numerous hunting trips to Africa. He and his brother, Jim, spent a lot of time hunting together. They loved to hunt whitetail, doves, ducks, and many other things. In his younger years he farmed soy beans and later was a cow farmer. He always said, “GE paid the bills and the cows paid for the hunting trips.”
Mr. Carter is survived by his daughters, Beverly Carter, Katie (Adam) King, and Holly (Brandon) Tubbs; his grandchildren, Landon Rives, Lilly Belle Smith, Kaitlyn Rives, and Clifton Tubbs; brother, Jim Carter; sister; Jeanie (Ross) Zorn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
