Herbie Gray

Herbie Jackson Gray, age 81, of Selma, died Sunday January 9, 2011. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Steven Carter and 3 brothers. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Edna Gray; children, Brenda Carter (Wendell) of Prattville, Connie Jean Lassitter (A.W.) of Selma, Robert Gray of Montgomery and Louise Richardson (Mickey) of Selma; grandchildren, Judy Scardina, Daniel Lassitter, Karen Morgan, Rachel Eldred, Melody Dillane and Jack Richardson; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Eloyce Prickett, Olis Prickett and Malene Williams and numerous nieces and nephews.
A chapel service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday January 13, 2011 at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Reverend George Jones and Reverend Mike Wyatt officiating and burial following at Pineview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday January 12, 2011 at the funeral home.
Mr. Gray served as a medic in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was also a member of The American Legion.
Active Pallbearers will be Jesus Sanchez, Charlie Worrell, Jimmy Griffin, Jimmy Ellison, Hank Williams, and Bobby Sanders. Honorary pallbearers are James Tennimon, Billy Boozer, and Russell Williams
