Howard Crumpton Oliver (81) died peacefully at home on June 10, 2023.
Howard was born on November 24, 1941, and grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. John T. Oliver, Sr. and Sara Crumpton Oliver, as well as his siblings John T Oliver, Jr. and Mary Ann Oliver Miree. He is survived by his wife Ann Coleman Oliver and daughter Mary Ann Oliver Ragan (Darrell).
Howard graduated from The University of Alabama with a B.S. in Accounting; he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He received his Juris Doctor from The University of Alabama School of Law, was an editor of The Law Review and a member of The Order of the Coif. He was a CPA, an attorney, and a businessman.
Howard spent the last 22 years of his life at his favorite place, The Farm in Dallas County, AL, and was an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Carlowville. He was a founding member of the Cahaba Foundation, President of The South Dallas Historic Preservation Association, and a devoted servant of the surrounding community. Howard dedicated much of his life to taking care of The Farm and loved nothing more than hosting his friends for gatherings and hunts for over 50 years. He passed along his love of the land and the resulting fellowship associated with hunting to a generation of young people.
There will be a brief graveside service on Friday, June 16th at 11AM at The Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Immediately thereafter, the family invites everyone to gather at The Farm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the South Dallas Historic Preservation Association at 241 County Road 486, Minter, AL 36761.
