Irene Mccormick

Irene McCary McCormick was born in Selma, AL on July 27, 1918 and passed away on October 28, 2010 in Warrior, AL. She was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Lynda Lee McCary, Husband, Claiborne C. McCormick, brothers, Lloyd Fulner McCary and James Leonard McMary, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs Lee Roy McCary.
Mrs. McCormick is survived by two nephews, Wayne McCary (Patricia) of Warrior, AL, Steve McCary of Selma, AL, and her niece, Lyn McCary Bussells (Skip) of Tuscaloosa, AL, sister in law, Katherine C. McCary of Selma, AL. She is also survived by a number of beloved great nieces and nephews of whom she took great pride and interest in all of their activities.
Mrs. McCormick was a former member of Valley Grande Baptist Church (the former Central Baptist Church) for most of her life. In her later years she was a faithful member of Fairview Baptist Church.
She was an avid reader, which gave her many enjoyable hours and Mrs. McCormick continues to swim even in the later years of her life. Her favorite place to vacation was the Alabama and Florida Gulf coasts, where she spent many happy summers with her family.
Mrs. McCormick was extremely proud of her family heritage and her Selma heritage. Some of her last thoughts were of her family, friends and the city in which she was born, raised, left for a while and eventually returned to reside.
She will be laid to rest in the Old Live Oak Cemetery on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at a 10:00 graveside service with her nephew, Reverend Steve McCary officiating and Lawrence Brown Service Funeral Home directing.
