Ida Susan Bayne

January 13, 1936 — December 24, 2024

Ida Susan “Susie” Moore Bayne, age 88, passed away surrounded by family in Brentwood, TN, on Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 2024.

Born in Selma, AL, on January 13, 1936, to R. Roy and Ida “Missie” Moore, she graduated from Albert G. Parrish High School in 1953 and attended Auburn University. She later married her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life, Rembert Bayne Jr., on July 3, 1954. After living in Salzburg, Austria, and San Francisco during Rembert’s military service, they returned to Auburn, where they welcomed their only child, a daughter named Mica, born in Selma in 1958.

Susie was known for her beautiful and contagious smile, her love of travel, and her joy in celebrating any occasion. She often said, “Don’t invite me if you don’t want me to go!” She loved Auburn football and spending time in the warm sunshine, preferably on the beach. After her beloved husband, Rem, passed away in 1995, Susie relocated from Dawson, GA, to Ft. Walton Beach, FL, where she thrived as a Gulf Coast resident.

Susie became actively involved with the HOA of the Surfdweller Condominium, serving on the Board and as President. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Fort Walton Beach Woman’s Club, and the Okaloosa Island Garden Club. Additionally, she was part of a lunch group affectionately known as the “Tomatoes.”

Her love of travel took her around the world, first with Rem and later with Mica and other travel companions. When at home, she enjoyed walking along the beach or relaxing on her gulf-front balcony, often toasting the sunset with friends.

In recent years, Susie maintained her gulf-front home while moving to Brentwood, TN, near Nashville, to be closer to her daughter, Mica, and son-in-law, Lanny. She became a cherished member of Stephens Valley Church, where she made many friends who treated her like family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Dottie Moore Cook, and her husband, Bill, as well as her brother, Robert R. Moore, and his wife, Lucy.

Susie is survived by her daughter, Mica (Lanny) Copeland of Brentwood, TN; three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren; her brother, Arthur (Amy) Moore of Headland, AL; her brother-in-law, David Bayne of Auburn, AL; six nieces, two nephews, and her favorite grand-dog, Charlie.

Donations in Susie’s honor can be made to a charity or cause of your choice.
