James Perry "J.P." Davidson, age 82, a resident of Selma, AL, passed away January 9, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Perry Davidson and daughter, Nancy D. Farley.
Surviving are his wife, Mary G. Davidson; step-son, Jason Jones; daughters, Belinda Davis and Peggy Duke; step-daughters, Lynn Baker, Janice McKinley and Shelby Jones; six grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one step-great- grandchild.
Graveside services will be Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. David Richardson officiating and Rev. Johnny Baker interpreting for the deaf. Selma Funeral Home will be directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, January 11, 2008 from 6-8:00 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Stanley Jordan, James Moore, Mark Moore, John Briggs, Alvin Gorenflo, Randy Andrews and Tony Walker. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Todd Sherrer and Dr. Alan Foster.
Mr. Davidson worked for over 24 years at Bush Hog, Division of Allied Products and 15 years at McGaugh Bakery. Although being hearing impaired, he was the first deaf mute to earn certification as a welder at Bush Hog. He attended the Alabama School for the Deaf in Talledega, AL where he was a member of the ASD football team.
