James Smith

James Preston "JP" Smith, age 83, of Selma, AL, passed away August 18, 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Myrle and Mary Mildred Smith; brother, William Kenneth "Bill" Smith and sister-in-law, Juanita "Nita" Smith. He is survived by his wife, Neva Ann Smith and children, Marta (Robert) Webster, Mike Smith and Gregg Smith. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George K. Jones, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Dan Finnen, Ricky Smith, Daryl Smith, Robert Webster, Dean Smith and Mike Finnen. Mr. Smith retired as a Civil Service employee from Craig AFB in 1972 and Rollings, Inc. as a machine technician in 1988. He loved hunting, golf and watching all types of sports as his health declined. He was a loving husband and father who will be missed by all who knew him. The family will accept flowers or memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
