Janie Spivey Dickens, beloved mother to two sons, Ronald P. Spivey (Quitman, GA), and the Late William Harold Spivey, Jr. (Valley Grande, AL), passed away peacefully on July 26, 2024, in Selma, Alabama. 

She was born in Farmersville, AL on July 7, 1927, to her parents, Lillian Boutwell Parrish and Hillary Jason Parrish. She was a resident of Tyler, Alabama for over 80 years and resided in Valley Grande, Alabama for her remaining years. 

She is survived by her sister Mary E. Peake of Selma, AL, son Ronald P. Spivey and grandson David Thomas Spivey of Quitman, GA, daughter in law, Linda Spivey, granddaughter Krystal Spivey Mezera (David Mezera), grandson WilliamHarold Spivey III “Trey” (Jessica Hain Spivey), of Valley Grande, AL, great-grandchildren, Ashby Dalton Massey (Mikaela), Natalie Peyton Jones (Chris), Spivey Andrew Massey, Sarah Hazel Spivey, Hain Spivey and great-great-grandchildren, Christoper Alan Jones III “Tripp”, Peyton Rose Jones, Abby Lynn Massey & Hilton Davis Massey, nephew Christopher Stowers.

She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends for her outgoing personality, baking cakes, friendly smile, and willingness to help those in time of need. The memories of all the good things about her life and precious moments are what we will continually cherish.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande. 

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the Selma Funeral Home.
