Joan Hininger Pardue passed away September 24, 2024 at the age of 90 in Selma, Alabama. She was born February 28, 1934 in Woodward, Oklahoma, South of Fargo on her father and mother’s homeplace. She was the daughter of Murial Joseph Hininger and Iona Juanita Salsberry Hininger.
Joan graduated from Fargo High School in Fargo, Oklahoma and attended the Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. She married Leslie Carl File in January of 1952, where they reared two sons, Jeffery Neal File and J.D. File. Jeffery passed away on February 7, 2002. In 1970, Joan remarried to Ralph Howard Pardue, who later preceded her in death on December 12, 1985.
Shortly after Joan retired from The West Central Alabama Easter Seal Rehabilitation Center, as Administrative Secretary for 25 years to Mr. Larry F. Lewis, Administrator, she started taking flying lessons from Aaron Lerner, CFI. Joan’s first solo was April 19, 2002 in Selma, Alabama on Runway 33 in a Piper Tomahawk. Joan and her flying buddy, Dr. David W. Schell took flying lessons at the same time from Aaron. David then bought a Cessna 152, hangered it in Selma and he and Joan continued to fly it for several years. Joan also enjoyed working in her yard, interior decorating, traveling, antique shopping and was always a good communicator.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Howard Pardue; son, Jeffery Neal File and granddaughter, Leslie Marie File.
She is survived by her son, J.D. (Susan) File; five grandchildren, Melanie, Leslie, Douglas, Justin and Kelly; seven great-grandchildren, Bryce, Kyleigh, Jordyn, Aubree, Oliver, Hudson and Piper and daughter-in-law, Debbie File.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support, They would also like to extend a special thank you to Mr. Fred Thomas and his wife, Patricia Thomas, for their help and support over the last few years.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
