Joe Stokes

Joe Edd Stokes, SSGT, USAF (Ret), age 68, of Selma, AL, passed away October 5, 2009. Mr. Stokes was a Vietnam Veteran and a member of VFW, American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Troy Stokes and Hilda Mae Nichols Stokes. Surviving are his daughters, Deenna Lynn (John) Mayo of Waco, TX, Debra (Dan) Temple of Grandbury, TX, Dale Johns of Mansfield, TX and Missy Sherrer of Gulf Breeze, FL; brothers, Troy (Judy) Stokes and Tommy (Mary) Stokes all of Selma, AL; sister, Lucy (Sam) Yarbrough of McCalla, AL; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be Thursday, October, 8, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Pineview Memory Gardens with Bro. Randy DeBrabant officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 6-8:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Military Honor Guard and honorary pallbearers will be members of V. F.W. Post 3016. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Wounded Warrior Association at Wounded Warrior Project, C/O Charitable Donations Coordinator, 7020 A. C. Skinner Pkwy., Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
