John Kincey Sr

March 15, 1925 — July 23, 2008

John Holden Kincey, Sr. ���Hody��� passed away on July 23, 2008. He was born on March 15, 1925.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas H. Kincey and Willie R. Kincey and his sister Barbara K. Hicks.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Ramona Kincey, daughter, Kathy Wood (Randy) of Pensacola, Florida, son, Johnny Kincey (Karen) of Auburn, Alabama, grandchildren, Jeff Robinson (Michelle) of Daphne, Alabama, Lauren Hulak of Pensacola, Florida, and Holden Kincey of Auburn, Alabama, and one great-grandchild, Kincey Coley. He is also survived by his brother, Dick Kincey (Lana) of Elberta, Alabama and his sister Martha Pierce of Chickasaw, Alabama. He is also survived by his special friends Elizabeth Driggers and family.
Mr. Kincey graduated from Albert G. Parrish High School in 1943 and served with the United States Navy in World War II. He retired from the Selma Housing Authority after 25 years of service as Assistant Executive Director. He was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Selma where he served as deacon, teacher of the Maverick Sunday School Class and many committees.
Mr. Kincey was a little league coach in youth baseball for 15 years and served on the Parks and Recreation Board for the City of Selma. He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and golf. Later in life he enjoyed playing his guitar with his friends and enjoyed making cookies, cakes, and bread for all those he loved.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeff Robinson and Holden Kincey, nephews, Terry Hicks and Dr. Alan Hicks, special friends, Web Manderson, Mal Driggers, and Bobby Driggers.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the First Baptist Church Maverick class, Jeff Ratcliffe, Hans Poulson, Robert Johnson, Jimmy Friday, and Dr. Don Overstreet.
Visitation will be Thursday July 24, 2008 from 6-8 in the Mallory Parlor in the First Baptist Church Education Building. Memorial Service will be held on Friday July 25, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Lee Tate and Rev. Jack Lovelace officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial service to follow in New Live Oak Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Building Renovation Fund of First Baptist Church of Selma.
