John Long

Mr. John Ross Long, age 88, of Selma, Alabama, passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016 in Heritage Health Care and rehab in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 25, 2016 at Sardis Baptist Church near Rockford, Alabama with Rev. Ira Blanchard officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. He will lie in-state one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service funeral Home.

He is survived by his sons: Michael Long - Houston, TX; Phillip Long - Tuscaloosa, AL; 3 grandchildren: Trenton Long - Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Joshua Long - Austin, Texas, and Lillian Pardo Long - Tuscaloosa, Alabama; and 1 great grandchild: Eli Long - Austin, TX.

He is also survived by his brother: David Long; sister: Mary Ann Kelber; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife: Evie Howell Long; parents: Dr. John Reed Long and Annie Ross Long; and his step-mother: Lilian Long.

Pallbearers will be: Trenton Long, Joshua Long, Jimmy Howell, Joseph Howell, Geoffrey Healan, and Barney Brown.
