John Macon McCormick, Jr. passed away September 1, 2020 at the age of 76. He was born October 22, 1943 in Selma, Alabama.
John served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. A hard-working family man, he spent many years in industrial railroad construction all throughout the Southeast. From birth, he has been a member of Church Street United Methodist Church and was a Christian man willing to help anyone. He enjoyed horses and horseback riding; spending time with his family and friends and his schnauzer, Clarence. His final years, he resided in Gulf Shores, where he owned and operated Gulf Coast Landscape Supply.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Macon McCormick, Sr.; mother, Julia Burt Jones Lambert and brother-in-law, John Rowell.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Alicia Edwards McCormick; daughter, Mary Shannon (Bill) Hall; son, John Macon (Michelle) McCormick, III; grandchildren, Mary Cathryn Scalise, Alex Hall, Hannah Lane McCormick and Ellie Suzanne McCormick; great-grandchildren, Baylus Shirley; sister, Mary Elizabeth Rowell; nephew, Jay Rowell and nieces, Julie Lyons, Jennifer Jones and Libby Bradford.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Lance Eiland officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The service will be live streamed online at http://watchlawrence.live for those unable to attend in person.
Pallbearers will be Alex Hall, Zach Shirley, Jay Rowell, Trent Rowell, Glenn Bradford and Anthony Kennedy.
