John Melton

John Hayward Melton, age 88, of Selma, died Monday July 21, 2008. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Nell Melton, daughters, Dianne Rainer (Sterl), Judy Sweeney, brother, Clifford Melton (Sara), sisters, Betty Jean Seele, Lila Mae Nichols, Doris Wilson, grandchildren, Price Rainer (Kelly), Melton Rainer, Joel Rainer (Danelle), Kerry Pennell (Kevin), Beth Sweeney, great-grandchildren, Christian Rainer, Jackson Rainer, Russell Pennell, Patrick Sweeney, Lauren Sweeney, special friends, Ann Wallace and Florence Moorer and Family. Services will be held Wednesday July 23, 2008, at 11:30 AM, at New Live Oak Cemetery with Reverend Lee Tate officiating and Lawrence Brown- Service Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Wednesday July 23, 2008 from 10 AM to 11 AM in the chapel. Pallbearers will be Ken Nichols, Keith Melton, Price Rainer, Scott Melton, Joel Rainer, and Carl Seele Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wille Moorer and Bobby Fitts. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the First Baptist Church building fund.
