Johnny Hughes

Johnny M. Hughes of Selma passed away at Selma Health and Rehab in Selma on Friday, November 4, 2022 at the age of 72.

He was born in Athens, Alabama on November 11, 1949 as the son of the late William Ollie Hughes and the late Willie Sirten Hughes.

Johnny spent his life as an auto parts salesman. He worked his early years at Genuine in Montgomery and the last several decades at C&S Auto Parts here in Selma for Mr. Carl Counts.

He is survived by his daughter, Cristina Lynn Rice; grandson, Brian Luke Rice; brother, David W. (Amy) Hughes; brother-in-law, Jim Griffin; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friends, James Lockhart, Faye Lockhart, and Carl Counts.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Gladys Griffin, Katherine Ricketts, Mary "Mickey" Ray, Murphy Hughes, Eli Hughes, Wilburn Hughes, William H. Hughes, James R. Hughes, and Mabern Hughes.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Selma Funeral Home.
