Joseph Jackson Hardy, age 60, of Selma, died Thursday November 27, 2008. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday November 30, 2008 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Reverend Fred Zeigler and Dr. David Thomas officiating and Lawrence Brown- Service Funeral Home directing. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon Barton Hardy, and his faithful dog, Jordan, his sister, Ann Hardy Beaver (Wayne) of Bloomsburg, PA, his sister-in-law, Lynn Barton Duffy (Bob) of Birmingham, his sister-in-law, Teresa Justice Barton of Selma, his mother-in-law, Jeanne Barton Coleman and her husband Rennie Coleman, his nephews, Morris Barton, Brad Duffy (Dee Dee), Barton Duffy, and Justin Hardy; and his nieces, Debbie Mench, and Jennifer Warden (Brent). Mr. Hardy was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Spivey Hardy II, and his parents, Joseph Spivey Hardy and Velma Chance Hardy, his father-in-law, Leonard Morris Barton, Sr. ,and his brother-in-law, Leonard Morris Barton, Jr. Mr. Hardy was born is Selma, AL May 8, 1948. He was well known in Selma as an Industrial and Commercial Chemical Sales representative for 35 years. He was a person who truly treasured his relationships with friends and relatives.
