Josephine Pitts, 84, died Thursday January 28, 2010, after a lengthy illness. She had been a resident of Warren Manor Nursing Home since May 1999. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday February 1, 2010 in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Major Will Cundiff will officiate. Interment will be in the New Live Oak Cemetery.
Mrs. Pitts was born in Selma, Alabama, to the late William Cobb and Annie Barnes Cobb. Mrs. Pitts was a member of the Salvation Army Church Home League for 37 years, a member of the League of Mercy for 18 years.
Mrs. Pitts is preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Pitts and a son, Eugene Pitts, both of Selma. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Foster of Macon, Georgia, sons, Hughey Pitts (Myra), of Garland, Texas, Eright Pittsof Selma, and Terry Pitts (Teresa), of Selma, brother, James Cobb of Mobile, AL, she had 17 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brandon, T.J., Huey, and Ryan Pitts, James Cobb, and Landon Milstead.
The family will greet friends form 6-8 p.m. Sunday January 31, 2010 at the funeral home. The family will gather at the home of Terry Pitts, 773 Leclede Rd., Selma, before and after services.
