Karen (Kay) Wells Crisman, age 67, of Marion Junction, AL passed away peacefully at her home on April 30th, 2023. Her remains will be interred at a family graveside ceremony, and it was her wish that there not be a formal service.
Kay was preceded in death by her father, Fred Wells; mother, Mary Weeks Wells; and sister, Virginia (Ginger) Wells.
She is survived by her husband and partner of 46 years, Edwin Grey Crisman; sister-in-law Connie Crisman Birk; nieces Kristen Foley, Margaret Doss, Catherine Templeton, Jennifer Crisman, and Ashley Birk; nephews Jay Crisman, John Birk, Jason Foley, and Bentley Templeton; great nieces Elizabeth Crisman, Brooke Mills, Marley Doss, Farrah Doss, and Hannah Foley; great nephews James Crisman, James Grey Kelly, Frank Doss, and Wyatt Grey Crisman; first cousin Karl Spike Smith of Birmingham; first cousins residing in Mississippi: Sara Dennis, Dennis Weeks, Margaret Weeks, Lynn West Spainhour, Bill West Mary Ann West Williford, Don West, Scott Weeks, Shelton Weeks, Linda Weeks Sobley, Bonnie Weeks Johnson, Suzan Weeks Bardwell, and Clint Weeks; her beloved “furry children” Ty and Emmitt; and other extended family and friends.
Kay was born August 1st, 1955, to Fred and Mary Wells in Tuscaloosa, AL. She was a Registered Nurse and worked in labor and delivery at the Vaughn Medical Center in Selma for more than 30 years. Kay was passionate about caring for her newborn patients and had a love for nature, especially wildlife and wildflowers. She was a “flower child” in her youth and a humble, gentle, and caring soul who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of sending flowers, consider planting wildflowers somewhere special to you, in Kay’s memory. When they bloom, remember her, and consider sharing a photo to her Facebook or Instagram which will remain active.
