George Karlton "Karl" Jones, Jr., age 57 of Valley Grande passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at his home. He was born on February 5, 1962 in New Orleans, Louisiana to George K. Jones, Sr. and the late Faye Renshaw Jones.
Karl owned and operated Selma Funeral Home located in Valley Grande for the last 17 years. He had a servant's heart for the people of Valley Grande, Selma, Dallas County, and the surrounding areas. Karl had a contagious laugh and a sense of humor that would lighten the burden of the families he served when they needed it most. He always worked tirelessly to ensure that the needs and wants for the families he served were met with the utmost respect and dignity. Karl coined the funeral home phrase of, "Family First,' meaning that he treated everyone like family and he always put everyone else first. This included his own family, his staff, and everyday people he met. Karl not only loved his family and people, but he also loved to fish. Karl found great peace and pleasure in casting a line and hooking a bass. He loved spending time on the river and with his friends on his fishing trips to Canada.
