Lee Rowan, age 79, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2015, in West Palm Beach, FL. Born in Selma, AL on December 22, 1935, Lee was the son of Leon and Mattie Lee Rowan, who resided at 801 Church St. for many years. A graduate of the University of Alabama School of Business and an active member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity, Lee soon married the former Helen Humphrey Keely of Arlington, VA. Together they raised two children while calling Richmond, VA and later, Miami, FL as their home. Lee would eventually move to Montgomery, AL where he worked as vice general manager of Maxwell Gunter Federal Credit Union. He later retired to Seaside, FL where he was able to enjoy those beautiful beaches he loved. He will be fondly remembered for his devotion to family and his many friends, as a head coach of girls fast pitch softball that brought him so much joy, for his special love of dogs, and of course, for Alabama football. Lee is survived by his son, Ed (Marla) of West Palm Beach, FL; daughter, Keely of Paradise Valley, AZ; brother, Richard (Martha Ann) of Mobile, AL; grandsons, Kyle (Brooke), Scott (Tricia) and Kenn (Samantha); granddaughter, Halley and great-grandson, William. There will be a memorial service held on May 1, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel followed by a graveside service at New Live Oak Cemetery.
