Lila Nichols

Lila Mae Nichols passed away on December 29, 2012 at the age of 96. She was a member of Ocmulgee Baptist Church for 87 years and she was the oldest member. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin G. Nichols. She is survived by her children, Kenwood C. (Joanna) Nichols of Selma, AL, Joan N. Miller of Millbrook, AL, Sherry N. Twilley of Canton, GA and James D. (Susan) Nichols of Selma, AL; brother, Clifford (Sarah) Melton of Selma, AL; sister, Doris M. Wilson of Hudson, FL; grandchildren, Pamela T. (Mike) Dennis, Kelli T. (Phillip) Prescott, Fiona N. (David) Rohde, Clare N. (Jason) Drebitko, Kimberly N. Talley and Tanner L. Chapman; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Ocmulgee Baptist Church with Rev. Donald Harris and Rev. Danny Sumerlin officiating. Interment will be in Ocmulgee Baptist Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 1, 2013, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Walter Edwards, Allen Fancher, James Hines, Robert Johnson Jr., Bobby Edwards and Keith Melton. Special thanks to devoted caregivers, Peggy Bearden, Pauline King and Wanda Smith. Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to the Ocmulgee Church Building Fund.
