Lillie Mae Arnold, age 87, of Valley Grande, AL, passed away September 14, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Lillie Arnold and brothers, Edgar Arnold, Robert Arnold and Floyd Arnold. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Betty Moore and Betty Kendall. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel. The officiating minister will be Rev. John Ingram and written words shared from some former pastors. Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Since her early teen years, Lillie's focus and center in life was exhibited by her commitment to Jesus Christ who gave her strength, fortitude, and ability to push forward in life's pursuits, such as, being a Sunday School teacher, Church Board member and WMS officer in her church. Lillie graduated from Trevecca Nazarene College in Nashville, TN, worked many years and retired from Bell South in Selma, AL. In the next phase of her life, she was an encourager to many people, both young and old. She had a listening ear and this blossomed into a phone ministry, particularly in her later years when unable to be in the public arena. Many people benefited spiritually through those chats on the phone. The family will receive flowers, but suggests instead, that donations be made to the Gideons International or The American Heart Association.
