Louise McHugh Norton, a dedicated and beloved member of the Selma community, passed away on February 21, 2024 at the age of 85. She was born on November 18, 1938 to the late Robert Levi and Mary Carter McHugh.
Louise's career was marked by her passion for education and childcare. She spent years at Mrs. Gantts Kindergarten before becoming the Child Care Director at the Selma-Dallas County YMCA in 1988. Louise's pioneering spirit and love for children left a lasting impact on all those she cared for.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Louise found joy in antiquing, indulging her love for discovering treasures from the past. Her hobbies reflected her appreciation for history and beauty.
Louise was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, William Kenneth Norton; her brother, Robert Levi McHugh, Jr.; and her sisters, Patsy Wilhoite and Carolyn Ferrell.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Hamrick, Kevin Hamrick, Donnie (Rae) Norton, Chris (April) Norton; grandchildren, Haylie (Kalen) McConnell, Grey (Erin) Norton, Anna (Teddy) Keenan, Sophie Hamrick, Jackson Hamrick, Bethany (Jack) Coley, Grant Norton, Mac Norton and Reid Norton; as well as great-grandchildren Hallie Rae McConnell and Mac Coley.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at New Live Oak Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.
