Louise Pearson Vickers, age 97, died on May 19th, 2016 at home in Bessemer Alabama. She passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Mrs. Vickers was proceeded in death by her husband of 72 years Herbert Clinton Vickers, her mother Sadie Fisher Pearson, father Milton Austin Pearson, four sisters Mary Pearson; Sadie and her husbands Cecil Gardener and Carl Edwards and Luke Bolen; Helen and her husbands Woodrow Long and Carl Hart; Naomi and her husbands Cecil LaGrone and Mack Godwin; and three brothers M.A. Pearson and wife Katherine; Thomas Pearson and wife Francis; and William Pearson.
Mrs. Vickers is survived by her daughter Thelma V. Reese and husband Leon R. Reese, Jr. and son Herb Vickers, Jr. and wife Sherrie. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Leon R. Reese III and wife Nancy, Jason Vickers and wife Lauren, and Lindsey Vickers. She had seven great grandchildren, Erin R. Sullivan and husband Chris, Eimee Reese, Leon Reese IV, Jade Denais, Dustin Brenton and wife Rachel, Brian Brenton, and Maggie Grace Vickers and two great, great grandchildren, Piper Phillips and Raylynn Guidry.
Mrs. Vickers was born and raised up in Selma, Alabama. She worked until Thelma and Herb came along then was a dedicated, loving stay at home Mom until they were in high school. Later, she worked many years for the Lafayette Parish Government in Louisiana. She loved to camp and play cards like Skip Bo and Continental Gin. She loved just being around people, family and talking, especially with her sisters. Her eyes would light up when one of the grandkids, great grandkids, or great, great grandkids entered the room.
Funeral Services will be Monday, May 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Barrett Road United Methodist Church with Travis Barnes and Dan Morris officiating. Interment will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive family and friends at the church for visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and suggests donations to Barrett Road United Methodist Church in lieu of flowers.
Louise, "Lucy", "Mammaw", Mama was dearly loved by her family and will be greatly missed.
