Lynn Bellinger Williams, born August 15, 1946 and died April 14, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents Frederick Bellinger and Marie Parker Bellinger, both of Atlanta, Georgia.
Mrs. Williams is survived by 2 sons; Joseph Beckham Williams, Jr. (Jessica) of Pike Road, Alabama; Jonathan Bellinger Williams of Madison, Mississippi; and a daughter Barbara Lynn Williams Sheffield (David) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. She is also survived by grandchildren; Joseph Beckham Williams III, Morgan Nicole Williams (Peyton), Landon Asher Williams, Sophia Lynde Williams, Jonathan Bellinger Williams Jr., Lillian Reese Williams, Amberly Catherine Sheffield, and Madeleine Beckham Sheffield, as well as 2 great-grandchildren Ava Marie and Rosalee Ivy Cleveland.
Mrs. Williams graduated from Brenau Academy in 1963 and attended the University of Georgia. She was a member of the Alpha Alpha Chapter of Phi Mu Fraternity and graduated in 1967 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Lynn met Joseph B. Williams in Atlanta Georgia, they married, and moved to Selma. In 1984 she received a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Alabama and worked for the State of Alabama until she retired in 2009.
Mrs. Williams was reared Presbyterian but became an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church when she moved to Selma. She was confirmed at St. Paul’s on January 25, 1970, participated in Alabama Cursillo # 2, and was a devoted member of the Daughters of the King. She was a Girl Scout leader, a member of a Bridge Club, and a Master Gardener.
The funeral will be Tuesday April 20, 2021 at 10:00 AM with a church service at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and following with a graveside ceremony. Contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church 210 Lauderdale Street, Selma, Alabama, 36701.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Williams, Jonathan Williams, David Sheffield, Richard Williams, Kirk Williams, and Cal Davis.
