Mabel Grindle Piper, age 85, of Mobile, Alabama, formerly of Selma, passed away January 22, 2018, following a lengthy illness. Her love and devotion to everything in her life always revolved around her love and devotion to her family.
She is survived by 4 daughters: Debbie Piper (Ron) Pelletier of Mobile, AL; Gina Piper (Steve) Williams of Lake Charles, LA; Cindi Piper Hamm of Ft. Walton, FL; Edie Piper Jewell of Mobile, AL; and one son: Steve (Stephanie) Piper of Selma, AL. 8 grandchildren: Blake (Nicki) Moseley, Chad (Keli) Williams, Brent (Cheyenne) Williams, Brian (Amanda) Piper, Lauren Piper (Jeffrey) Eiland, Kelly Hamm (Scott) Jordan, Kevin (Emily) Hamm, Camryn Anese Jewell; 17 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mabel was preceded by her parents: Roy Alvin and Edress Hinton Grindle; 2 brothers: Jimmy Grindle and Charles Grindle; and 1 sister: Helen Grindle Moore.
Ms. Piper grew up in Tyler and attended elementary, middle, and high school in the nearby area. She was last employed as Cafeteria Manager at Byrd Elementary School, retiring in 1992. Although she relocated to Mobile in 2003, she continued to miss Selma and her friends who remained in the area.
Visitation will be held at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2018. Graveside services will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Her nephew, Ronnie Moore, will conduct the service.
Pallbearers will be: Blake Moseley, Brian Piper, Chad Williams, Brent Williams, Kevin Hamm, and Monk Moore.
