Margaret Elizabeth Jones Barr
On the evening of August 26, 2013, Margaret passed away after a lengthy illness at Prattville Rehabilitation Center at the age of 85. She was born April 21, 1928 to William N. and Sara Ester (Pettis) Jones in Coffeeville, AL. She was a resident of Selma, AL for the majority of her life.
Margaret is survived by her son Jerry and daughter-in-law, Gloria (Parker) Barr of Montgomery, AL; two grandchildren, Ronnie (Tia) Barr of Anniston, AL and Thereassa (Ken) McDaniel of Tallassee, AL; six great-grandchildren, Karl, Kyle, Katherine, Koen, Braxton and Donovan; three brothers, Raymon (Kate) Jones of Citronelle, AL, Hershel "Doat" (Rada) Jones of Jackson, AL and Thomas (Molly) Jones of Niceville, FL; three sisters, Mrs. Francis Thomas of Bessemer, AL, Mrs. Carolyn Pritchett of Wetumpka, AL and Mrs. Martha (Carl) Pinkston of Williston, Fl; 32 nieces and nephews and a multitude of great-nieces and nephews.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents; her husband, James Everette Barr; two brothers, Garvin Levon Jones and Winfred "Tom" Jones; and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Ellis Bumpers and Mrs. Dee Davis.
Margaret was an accomplished seamstress who worked for Selma Apparel and Vanity Fair. She won several awards for her sewing, crocheting, crafts and cooking.
Family will receive friends at Lawrence-Brown Funeral Home on August 30, 2013 from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held at Lawrence-Brown, on August 31, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Gordon Gibbs officiating. Pallbearers will be Thomas Jones, David Pritchett, Kenneth McDaniel, Ronnie Barr, Karl McDaniel and Caylen Pritchett. Honorary Pallbearer will be Kyle McDaniel. Mrs. Barr will be laid to rest at New Live Oak Cemetery, in Selma, AL.
