Margaret Champion

Margaret Wood Champion, age 81, of Valley Grande, AL, passed away May 25, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert R. Champion, Sr.; parents, Evey Elbert Wood and Lois Dunaway Wood Spigner; sister, Betty Lou Broadhead and brother-in-law, Albert Champion. She is survived by her sons, Hubert Ray (Kathy) Champion, Jr. of Jones, AL and Richard "Rick" (Wanda) Champion of Valley Grande, AL; grandchildren, Randy Champion, Hubert Ray (Candy) Champion, III, Paul (Amy) Champion, Brian Champion, Christopher (Megan) Champion, Ashley Champion and her fiancé, Ben Smitherman and Cliff (Candance) Miller; brothers-in-law, D. C. (Clara) Champion of Headland, AL and Charles Broadhead of Selma, AL and sisters-in-law, Helen Myers of Pensacola, FL and Harriet Sobera of Selma, AL; a number of great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Jean McIntyre and Helen Nichols. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy deBrabant officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends Friday, May 27, 2011 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Champion was a member of the Emblem Club and The Red Hat Ladies Society Club.
