Margaret Cox

Margaret Davison Cox, age 78, died at home in Selma just after Christmas. Born November 4, 1932, in Clarksville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Anne Victoria Greene Davison and Dr. John Alexander Davison. She grew up in Selma and was a 1950 graduate of Albert G. Parrish High School. She was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Wake Forrest University in 1954. She lived and worked abroad in Europe in the 1960s, and was later employed by the Equitable Insurance Company in the New York City area. Then she lived and worked in Petersburg, Virginia, before moving to Selma to be with her mother. She worked as a docent at Sturdivant Hall until her retirement. She is survived by a son, Robert David Cox, of New York, New York. She is also survived by a sister, Anne Davison Lewis, of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Also surviving are a niece, Elizabeth ���Betsy��� Lewis, of Scranton, Pennsylvania and Tirana, Albania, a nephew, Dr. John Lewis, and his wife Nancy, of Winchester, Virginia, two grand nieces, Sarah and Rebecca Lewis, and a grand nephew, Jacob Lewis. A memorial service will be held at the John A. Davison Chapel at the First Baptist Church on Monday, January 3, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Light officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service funeral home directing. Visiting hours with the family will be from 1:00 to 2:00 on Monday, before the service in the Kathleen Mallory Parlor. Interment will be in the New Live Oak Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to Sturdivant Hall or to the First Baptist Church of Selma.
