Marie Drake Smith Bearden

Marie Drake Smith Bearden of Selma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at home surrounded by her family at the age of 90.

She was born November 29, 1933 to the late Bryant Drake and the late Annie Drake.

She worked for R.L. Zeigler.

She is survived by her children, Joyce (Bill) Bolin, Janice Kennedy, James Leon (Alicia) Smith, Julian (Diane) Smith, Jennifer (Charles) Miller, Jay (Heather) Smith; and Ronnie Rape; twelve grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Doris Godsey and Laura Hancock; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, William "Bud" Smith and James A. Bearden; children, Judy Smith and Jerry Smith; and grandchildren, Bryce Rodgers and Bentley Hansel.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Selma Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Sanders and Rev. Ricky Jordan officiating.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m.

Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Methodist Cemetery in Marion, Alabama.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
