Marie Parker Cunningham

July 15, 1946 — December 5, 2024

In the early morning of December 5, 2024, Marie passed away at the age of 78. She was born July 15, 1946 to Irene Catherine Back and Braxton Milton Parker in Mamer, Luxembourg. She was a resident of Prattville for the past 33 years. Marie became a naturalized citizen on January 24, 1968. 

Marie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Terry Jewell Cunningham; her children, Melissa Elaine and John Michael Cunningham; a sister, Gloria Theressa Marcella Barr, and a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews. 

Marie is predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Johnnie Sylvester Parker and Daniel Braxton Parker; a sister-in-law, Sarah Lavonia Ross Parker; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Demone Barr. 

Marie was a dedicated wife, mother and aunt. She was a former retail associate for both Leons and Parisians. She was devoted to her family. She loved having children around and helped to raise her grand-niece and grand-nephew, Katherine Elizabeth and Koen Michael McDaniel. She always had a smile for everyone and was ready to help anytime she could. 

Family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home on December 9, 2024 from 5-7pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Peace on December 10, 2024 at 11:00 am with a graveside service at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma. There will be a reception at the home of Gloria Theressa Marcella Barr in Montgomery following the internment. 

Pallbearers will be Ronnie Barr, Steven Parker, Adrian Parker, Kenneth McDaniel, Karl McDaniel, and Barry "Trot” Fullerton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Koen Michael McDaniel, Kyle Patrick McDaniel and Robert Lewis Boatner.
