Marilee Rush Horton passed away May 13, 2023 at the age of 79. She was born November 7, 1943 to the late Robert and Hazel Rush.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charlie Frank Horton; daughter, Pam Horton Cotter; brothers-in-law, Howard White, James Horton, and William (Beatrice) Horton and sisters-in-law, Caroline (Duelon) Buxton and Catherine Horton.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Horton; grandchildren, Hunter (Lindy) Butts, Forrest (Mallory) Butts, Brian (Amber) Robitaille and Jason (Laurie) Robitaille; great grandchildren, Chase, Bella, Jordan, Wyatt, Lexi and Alyssa; sister, June Rush (Tommy) Carter; sister-in-law, Nell Horton White; her companion, Bo Bo and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary "Maw Maw" had a deep love for her faith and was a devoted member of the West Highland United Methodist Church. She found joy in serving her Lord and being part of a community that shared her beliefs. Gardening was another passion that brought her immense happiness. She had a special talent for cultivating beautiful flowers and nurturing thriving vegetables. The vibrant colors she created in her garden were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. Above all, Mary treasured her family. She was a loving and supportive presence in their lives, always putting their needs first. The memories of laughter, togetherness, and love shared with her children and grandchildren will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Bro. Toby Milstead and Sis. Linda Tarver officiating. A private burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m., prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Hunter Butts, Forrest Butts, Jason Robitaille, Brian Robitaille, Chase Robitaille and Billy Blackmon. Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Nichols, Ray Cook, Randy Willet and Gary Palmer.
Flowers will be accepted, or you may make consider making a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or any animal rescue.
