Mrs. Marilyn Wilson, 91, of Selma, Alabama went to be with her Lord, July 9, 2022, at Park Place Nursing Home.
Born in Selma, on January 26, 1931, Mrs. Wilson was a 1949 graduate of Selma High School. During her long career she was a teacher's assistant for the Selma School System, book keeper for the late Dr. Nicholson and for Walter Craig's Sporting Goods. She was also employed with UAB Family Medicine for over 10 years as the medical insurance clams processor. Her focus was on raising God loving children and being a devoted wife.
Most dear to her heart was being a charter member of Elkdale Baptist Church of
Selma, where she was a long time Sunday school teacher, working with the children, youth and adult classes. She shared her singing talent in the Adult Choir for over 50 years, as well as working with many committees and groups in the church family.
She is survived by her two beloved children James W. Wilson, Jr. (Billie) of Pelham, AL, and Richard L. Wilson (Janet) of Selma, AL, Son in law William (Bill) Dailey of Fort Myers, FL; six granddaughters, Rebecca Dailey Crull (Shawn) of New Palestine, IN, Amanda Wilson Sessions of Gillette, WY, Sarah Wilson Moore (Wesley) of Saraland AL, and Kimberly Wilson Spradlin (Hunter) of Greenboro, NC, Shelly Wilson Butt (Mahir) of Mobile, AL, Jessica Wilson Seaich (Jared) of Orem, UT and nine great grandchildren, Brannon and Alex Crull of New Palestine, IN, Amirah and Alena Butt of Mobile, AL, Arianna and Liam Smith, and Ezra Seaich of Orem, UT, Rance Moore of Saraland, AL, and Gavin Spradlin Greensboro, NC.
Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years James Woodrow (Woodie) Wilson Sr. daughter Marilyn (Lynn) Elizabeth Dailey, and parents Marvin Lane Seale and Mandy Irene Seale of Selma Alabama.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the Elkdale Baptist Church in Selma with Rev. Nicholas Gandy officiating. Mrs. Wilson will lie in state one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m..
Interment will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff of Cedar Hill Assisted Living, Park Place Nursing home, and Homestead Hospice for all of their love and care for Mother and our family. A special thanks for her friend and caregiver, Deloris Johnson which helped keep mother happy and safe. God bless you all.
