Marion Crawford Dillon Peak went to be with Jesus December 12, 2017 at the age of 91. The beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother was born February 3, 1926 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Hugh Crawford Dillon, Sr. and Ruth Idelle Ernest Dillon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dr. Hugh Crawford Dillon and sister, Ruth Dillon Jones.
She met her husband, Bruce L. Peak, Jr. and were married in the Auburn Chapel on June 5, 1948 in Auburn, Alabama. Marion graduated from The University of Montevallo with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She received several honors at Montevallo including the prestigious Purple Leader Award. Her church was very important to her, as was her church family. She served as President of the Women of the Church and several other volunteer positions within the church and her community.
Marion’s life was characterized by her unconditional love for her husband of 69 years and her devotion to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Everyone always felt welcomed in her home and experienced her gift of hospitality.
She is survived by her husband, Bruce L. Peak, Jr.; children, Chris B. (Cindy) Peak, Debbie (Toby) Traylor, Jere D. (Peggy) Peak and Bruce L. (Pat) Peak, III; grandchildren, Hardy (Tracee) Traylor, Bruce (Meredith) Traylor, Stacey (Jett) Williams, Christopher (Ashley) Peak, Drew Peak, Ellie Peak, Matthew Peak, Dillon (Kalee) Peak, Owen (Ashley) Peak, Alison (Adam) West, Bruce Peak and Taylor Peak and thirteen great-grandchildren, whom she adored.
The family wishes to recognize and thank Marion’s caregivers, Lillian Washington, Arethia Fail, Gloria Edwards and Penny Thicklin for their dedicated love and support.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, December 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steve Burton officiating. Interment will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her eight grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, 301 Broad St, Selma, AL 36701 or The Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
