Marjorie Maye Jowers, age 86, a resident of Alabaster, AL and formerly of Selma, AL, passed away August 3, 2008 at her daughter's home. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Travis W. Barnes, Jr., C. Lester Barnes and Woodrow W. Barnes and sisters, May Barnes, Mabel Barr, Cornelia B. Freeman and Katie-Anna Baxter. Surviving Mrs. Jowers are her husband, D. P. Jowers; son, Ronald M. (Maudis) Jowers; daughters, Glenda J. (Cliff) Osburn and Cheryl J. (Dan) Olinger; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George K. Jones, Sr. and Rev. Travis Barnes III officiating. Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens with Selma Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:15 p.m. Pallbearers will be Phillip Jowers, Barry Jowers, Dan Olinger, Dewayne Osburn, Cecil Barnes and Rayburn Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Cliff Osburn, Thomas "Tom" Barnes, Billy Rogers, Gary Mayton, Dr. Parke Chittom, Sr., John T. Baxter, Kenneth Baxter and Richard Barnes. Mrs. Jowers was a member of Central Baptist Church, which is now Valley Grande Baptist Church for 65 years. The family will accept flowers or memorial donations can be made to Valley Grande Baptist, 48 County Road 16, Valley Grande, AL 36701 or Family Comfort Hospice, 567 First St., North, Alabaster, AL 35007.
