Mrs. Marjorie Parrish Self died on Friday, July 24, 2009, in Grady General Hospital, Cairo, GA..Funeral services for Mrs. Self will be held on Monday, July 27,2009, 11 a.m., at the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Norman G. Williams and Rev. Linda Tarver officiating. Interment will follow in the New Live Oak Cemetery.
Active Pallbearers will be Davy McLean, Otis Bender, A. T. Vaughn, William Gresham, Harrell Watts, Jr. and Wallace Skinner.
Born in Sardis, Al on August 14, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Isaac S. and Jessie Majors Parrish. She was married to Edward L. Self who preceded her in death.
She was a life-long member of the Union United Methodist Church, in Sardis, Alabama and was a long-time employee of Selma Steam Laundry and Cleaners.
Survivors are sons, Edward Parrish Self of Cairo, GA. and Thomas Lee (Keren) Self of Lanett, Al. Grandchildren; Nikki, Meagan, and Jordan Self, all of Lanett, AL She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Lydia Parrish Hardy and a brother, Elva L. Parrish.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2009, at the funeral home.
