Martha Zuelzke

Martha Elizabeth McBride Zuelzke passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2009. She was born in Selma, Alabama on January 26, 1923. Her parents were Edward Thomas McBride and Margaret Elizabeth Rountree McBride.
Mrs. Zuelzke is survived by her children, Arthur C. Zuelzke, Jr. (Kathy D) of Lake Mitchell, AL, Kathleen E. Zuelzke of Selma, Ernest E. Zuelzke (Kathy K) of Selma, her grandchildren, Scott Thomas Zuelzke, Russell Drew Zuelzke (Jennifer), Frances Elizabeth Zuelzke, Reid McBride Zuelzke, James Edward Zuelzke and her great grandchildren, Margaret Drew Zuelzke and Mason Scott Zuelzke. Her husband, Arthur Charles Zuelzke, Sr. preceded her in death.

Martha graduated from Selma High School and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music where she met her future husband. After teaching at Bowling Green University, she and her husband relocated to her home in Selma in 1953. She will be remembered as a happy, positive lady that loved her family, church, and friends dearly of whom she had many. First Presbyterian Church was such an important part of her life as were her piano students and bridge friends.
Her family will receive friends Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 1-2 p.m.at First Presbyterian Church with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Ronald Stone, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, Louis McMilion and Cartledge Blackwell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Selma or Valley Creek Presbyterian Church in care of 119 Fawn Drive, Clanton, Alabama 35045.
