Mary Drue Berrey Jones Hobbs

Mary Drue Berrey Jones Hobbs died May 4, 2012 at her home. Graveside services will be held 2:00 Sunday, May 6, 2012 at New Live Oak Cemetery with the Reverend Fred Zeigler officiating. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leonard Seawell Jones and Samuel Earle Hobbs.

She is survived by her daughters Mary Drue Jones Wheeler (Jim) and Em Jones Moore (Joe). Her
Grandchildren Mary Drue Miller (John), Margaret Cunningham (Robb), Mary Bethel Frazer (Bob), Amy Cobb (Warren) and Joe Seawell Moore (Amanda) and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was born August 16, 1918 and attended Selma City Schools. She graduated from the University of Alabama where she was president of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She was an life long member of Church Street United Methodist Church serving as Sunday school teacher, President of the UMW, and on the Board of Trustees and Administrative Board. She served on the Selma City School Board for 11 years. She was a member of Pandora, Trellis Garden Club and Selma Charity League.

Pallbearers will be John Miller, Robb Cunningham, Bob Frazer, Warren Cobb and Joe Seawell Moore.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church Street United Methodist Church, Cahaba Hospice, or a charity of your choice.

A special thanks to her devoted caregivers, Jessie Mae Walker, Betty Varner, Mae Hill, Cora Moore, and Gloria Hill.
