Mildred Blackburn Crovato, 95, of Selma, Alabama died peacefully at home on April 3, 2023. She was born in Burkeville, Alabama in Lowndes County on November 10, 1928 to the late Robert Hugh Blackburn and the late Mary Lynn Blackburn. She was the youngest of ten children.
She married Albert Crovato on May 26, 1946 and they were married for 61 years. Together they raised three sons and ran a very successful tile business. She will be remembered as a loving Mother and Mamaw, along with the title of one of the best cooks in Potter’s Station. Her recipes are a legacy to her grandsons, who take joy in cooking for others as much as she did.
Her heart’s joy were her boys and her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years; her parents; siblings and a grandson, William Cory Crovato.
She is survived by her children, Albert “Bud” Crovato, Jr., Robert Joseph “Joe” Crovato and William Lynn (Pat) Crovato; grandchildren, Adam Crovato, Nick (Diane) Crovato; great-grandchildren, Brody Crovato, Rives Crovato, McCain Crovato, Beckett Crovato and Lilly Crovato; her good friend, Dianne Steele and friend and caregiver, Lucille Savage.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 11:00 am at Pisgah Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ira Blanchard officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A private graveside service for the family will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bud Crovato, Joe Crovato, Lynn Crovato, Adam Crovato, Nick Crovato and Mike Reynolds.
