Milton "Pete" Douglas Knight age 85 of Prattville and formerly of Burnsville, passed away peacefully at his home. He was born March 10, 1934 in Alabama to the late William E. Knight and the late Mary Alma Dukes Knight.
Pete was formerly a manager at the Cosby-Carmichael Sand & Gravel plant, in Selma, where he worked until the ripe age of 70. He was drafted into the Army and served honorably in the 450th Ordnance Company, 1-73rd Field Artillery Regiment, assigned to Fort Polk Louisiana from August 1956 to January 1958. Following his active duty service, he was a member of the Alabama National Guard where he served as an Ammo Storage Specialist with the 402nd Ordnance Company in Demopolis, AL from September 1958 to November 1960. He finished his enlisted requirement with the inactive reserves in February 1962.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Sherry) Knight, Robert (Lynda) Sherbett, Gary (Kara) Knight, Wanda Sealy, and Tammy (Joe) Miller; daughter-in-law, Debbie Knight; grandchildren, Sally Friday, Bobby Knight. Russell Knight, Clint Knight, Ashley Brock, Logan McCullough, Joey Miller, Kaye Miller, Shawn Miller, Brad Miller, Quayde Knight, and Summer Knight; 6 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren on the way.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen M. Knight and his son, Fred D. Knight.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Homestead Hospice of Prattville and Dr. Nicholas Knight of Selma.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at 10:00 a.m from the Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Tucker and Kyle Shirley officiating.
Interment will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Miller, Brad Miller, Chad Jordan, Justin Brock, David McDowell, and Joe Miller.
