Nelda Singleton Alexander Jackson

Nelda Singleton Alexander Jackson of Athens, GA died January 22 ,2025 at the age of 97. Mrs. Jackson was born on March 5, 1927 to the late Bonnie Kate Tillery and William Glover Singleton.

Nelda was a member of Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Gadsden and was especially fond of Linda Riley’s Sunday School class, prior to moving to Birmingham.

Mrs. Jackson was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Kirby W. Alexander; her second husband, Onie Lewis Jackson; her daughter, Bonnie Ann Nessmith; two grandsons, Charlie Nessmith and Matthew Jackson; her brothers, “Bud” Singleton and Bill Singleton and her baby sister, Suzane Singleton Coats Boschetto. 

She is survived by her children, Judice McKenzie of Birmingham and David (Teresa) Jackson of Kettering, Ohio; grandchildren, Amy "Ann Marie" (Kevin) Gibbs of Harahan, LA, Jamie (Dara) York of Hoover, AL, Lauren Bostic of Haysi, VA, Cindy Nessmith of Athens, GA and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, Alabama on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. with Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home of Selma directing.
