Norma "Gail" Marcinowski Read

Norma Gail Read, of Snellville, Georgia, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the age of 80.

Mrs. Read enjoyed traveling, collecting figurines, and reveled in the spirit and
holiday of Christmas. Mrs. Read was a gifted cook, loved her family dearly and was especially proud of her grandchildren. Mrs. Read’s loving nature and innate goodness will be missed by all that knew her.

Mrs. Read was born in Selma, Alabama, grew up in the countryside of Jones, Alabama and
graduated from Dallas County (Alabama) High School in 1960. In August 1960, she married Richard Franklin Read and the couple remained together for sixty-three (63) years. In 1963 Mr. and Mrs. Read moved to Georgia. Over the next four (4) decades, Mrs. Read worked in the banking industry, first at Trust Company Bank in Atlanta and then, the Brand Banking Company in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

Mrs. Read, the youngest of three children, was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Leo Marcinowski; her brother, Leo Burns Marcinowski, and her sister, Minnie Rose Abrams.

Mrs. Read is survived by her husband, Richard; her sons, Judge Richard Read and Russell Read; daughters-in-law, Theresa Read and Julie Read; grandchildren, Jacob Read, Jillian Read, Josalyn Read, Ryan Read, Rachel Read and Camilla Zaepfel; niece, Pamela Mitchell and nephew, Chris Abrams.

A graveside service for Mrs. Read will be held at New Live Oak Cemetery, 110 West Dallas Avenue, Selma, Alabama on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 9:00 a.m..
