Patricia Ann Deavor

July 20, 1941 — August 19, 2024

Patricia Ann Deavor, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, departed this life on August 19, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her community. Born on July 20, 1941, Patricia embraced life with the grace of a true Southern Belle and the strength of a Steel Magnolia. Her presence was a balm to everyone she encountered; she was always proper, welcoming, and well put together.

She attended Oneonta High School and went on to graduate from the University of Montevallo with a B.S. in Education. Patricia dedicated her life to nourishing young minds through her work in the Birmingham School System as a music teacher. Yet, her most fulfilling role was that of a devoted wife, mother, and volunteer. Patricia skillfully balanced her passions, also owning the Calico Cottage Kitchen and Snak Attack for a time, where her love for cooking and hosting flourished.

Patricia’s vibrant spirit brought life to many projects and initiatives within her community. Her involvement with Meals on Wheels showcased her compassion, as she eagerly served those in need. Together with Dr. Deavor, she made great contributions to the Selma March of Dimes and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. Her commitment to fostering community connections was apparent in her co-chairmanship of the Selma Garden Club, where she nurtured both plants and friendships.

A beloved figure within her church, Patricia's proudest accomplishment was launching "Living Treasures," a senior luncheon program at Church Street Methodist Church. This initiative has uplifted countless lives by bringing together the cherished older generation of the church, allowing them the opportunity to share stories, laughter, and camaraderie.

Patricia is now at peace, reunited with her husband, Dr. William Chester Deavor, who passed away almost a year to the day before her. Together they sewn together 63 years of marriage. Their love and devotion to each other were evident to all who knew them, a guiding light that nurtured their family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Richard Todd (Stacy) Deavor, Kimberly Deavor (Trey) Barnard, and Mary Kathryn (Garth) Ade; her adoring grandchildren, April Nicole Hardy, William Trenton Barnard, Philip Jackson Barnard, Wilson Harris Barnard, Michael Noah Barnard, and Grayson William Ade; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Gage, and Willow. Patricia also leaves behind her brother, David (Donna) Wilson, and sister-in-law, Diana Wilson, each of whom will miss her radiant smile and kind heart dearly.

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm Ellis Wilson and Mary Robertson Wilson, along with her brother, Don Wilson. As we remember Patricia, let us take comfort in knowing that her contributions to her family and community create ripples that will last for generations. She cherished every moment of her life, as she showered unconditional love on all around her.
