Richard Godwin went on to be with the Lord on October 27, 2024 at the age of 80. He was born January 27, 1944 in Selma, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Glen Godwin and several brothers and sisters.
With over 30 years dedicated to Alabama Power as a lineman, Richard was known for his steadfast work ethic and commitment to his craft. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church from the age of 15.
A true conversationalist, he loved to talk and never met a stranger, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Richard had a passion for old cars, enjoying the thrill of tinkering with them during his younger years. His pride in his accomplishments as a diligent worker defined him and inspired those around him.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sue Wilson Godwin; brothers, Thomas (Linda) Godwin, Jack (Pam) Godwin and sisters, Judy (Ronald) Ford and Mary Eugenia Rice; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will hold a private service and he will be laid to rest at Pineview Memory Gardens in Valley Grande.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to a charity of your choice in his honor.
