Robert Charles “Mickey” Blackwell, 85, of Lowndesboro died at his home Thursday, May 9, 2019.
He was preceded in death by his father, William F. Blackwell; mother, Lily M. Blackwell; brothers, Julius Blackwell, Tom Blackwell and William F. Blackwell, Jr. and sister, Ida Nell Johnson.
Mr. Blackwell served in the United States Navy during The Korean War. He was the owner of Blackwell Drywall Company for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patsy C. Blackwell; children, Melinda Blackwell Foster, Robert Dale (Karlie) Blackwell and Jennifer Blackwell (Scott) Armstrong; grandchildren, Shelly Blackwell (Leigh) Hargrove, Lauren Pomeroy (Jeremy) Logan, Heather Gail Blackwell (Brandon) Orvis, Lindsay Pomeroy (Meng) Ung, Jesse Blackwell (Brandi) Foster, Patrick (Raeven) Foster, Austin Travis Chesser and Jon Cole Chesser; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 12, 2019 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. A procession to the graveside will leave the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 13, 2019. Graveside services will begin at 1:00 p.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Mark Raughton officiating.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Foster, Austin Travis Chesser, Jon Cole Chesser, Scott Armstrong, Donnie Morgan and Scott Hadaway. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Blackwell Foster, Milton Harrison, Don Smith and Cecil Moton.
